James Daniel Phillips

James Daniel Phillips, 60, of Ashland, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.

He was born on March 27, 1962 in Ashland, KY, to the late Yvonne Phillips Bays and Martin Bays.

Jim was a graduate of Paul Blazer High School and worked as a carpenter. He adored his grandchildren and was an aspiring science fiction novelist.

Survivors include his loving wife, Kathy McKinney Phillips; sons, James Edward (Cara) Phillips, Daniel Lee (Bethany) Phillips and Justin (Amber) Burton; daughters, Jessica Love and Emily Burton; brother, Marty (Allison) Bays; sister, Pam (Tony) Conley; and grandchildren, Paxton, Trinity, Caleb, Sawyer, Augustus, Brooke and Kaylyn.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Coalton Cemetery.
