James Earl “Redpup” Stambaugh, Jr, 69, of Ashland, KY passed away at home with family on October 1, 2021. He was born in Kenova, WV on December 31, 1951 to the late James E. Sr. and Cleopatra Nancy Franks Stambaugh. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Joyce Ann Cremeans Stambaugh, brothers Rolland Morton Stambaugh, Okie Harold Stambaugh, and James Edward Stambaugh and sisters Heddy Sue Gutheridge, Rozella Jean Stapleton and Ethel Margaret Stambaugh.
He was retired from the AK Coke plant as a river dock operator, served proudly in the US Army and was a KY Colonel. He was also a member of the Bear Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church.
James is survived by a son James Earl Stambaugh III of Ashland, KY, daughters Teresa Lynn O’Neill and husband Ryan of Bellevue, WA, Autumn Michelle Stambaugh of Melbourne, FL, sisters Nancy Rosalee Hicks of Ashland, KY , Tina Haney of Coalgrove, OH and grandchildren Serena Dawn Stambaugh, Kylie Hays, Jolene Saoirse O’Neill, Jayden Atreyu O’Neill and Mick James O’Neill.
Graveside services will be held at the KY Veterans Cemetery, NE on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 1:00 PM and will be officiated by Reverend Jim Curley. Interment will follow in KY Veterans Cemetery, NE. Visitation will be at STEEN FUNERAL HOME-13TH STREET CHAPEL on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon.
