Jerry Richard “Dick” Keaton, 84, of Coal Grove, OH, died peacefully Thursday morning, June16, 2022 while in the care of Community Hospice in Ashland, KY. 

Dick was born on January 1, 1938 to the late Jerry and Alice (Norris) Keaton. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Connie Riley Keaton; a son, Jeffery Keaton; daughter, Jana Beth (Paul) Royster; and son, Joshua (Fiancé Stacy Fugate)Keaton. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Colt (Hannah) Royster, Kelsey (Justin) Ingram, Kristin Royster, Taylor (Christian) Furbay, Hannah Keaton, and Shane Keaton; and five great-grandsons: Barron, Beck, Ash, Cal, and Owen. 

Dick cared deeply for his hometown of Coal Grove and spent his life living on High Street in the heart of the town. He graduated from Dawson-Bryant High School (1956) where he played fullback for his favorite sport: football. He remained a lifelong Hornets fan and cheered them on alongside his other top teams—the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He worked for 43 years for Armco Steel as a machinist and crew chief. He was a great father, a loving husband, and had a wonderful life. 

Steen Funeral home Central Avenue Chapel in charge of arrangements. There are no immediate services planned, but the family is preparing for an upcoming memorial service.
