Jimmy Grant Roberts, 75, of Ashland, went home on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, to be with his Lord and Savior whom he had spent his entire life longing to see.
He was born July 3, 1946, in Paintsville, Kentucky, to the late Norman “Payday” Roberts and Isabelle Tackett Roberts.
Jimmy retired following a 38 1/2 year career with AK Steel. He was a devoted member of Wildwood Baptist Church where he attended the Seekers Sunday school class. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, yardwork and spent countless hours volunteering at his church and visiting hospitals and nursing homes.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 56 years, Judy Blair Roberts of Ashland; three children, Missy (Tracy) Hillman of Russell, Jerry Grant (Kelli) Roberts of Raceland and Stephanie Roberts of Ashland; brother, Norman “Gene” (Malta) Roberts, Jr. of Ashland; grandchildren, Tiffany (Adam) Gaskin, Morgan (Tony) Arthur, Kayla (Tyler) Gill and Autumn (Matt) Jones; and seven great grandchildren, Grace, Emmie, Willow, Evalynn, Addyson, Ella and Owen.
A celebration of Jimmy’s life will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 12, 2021 at STEEN FUNERAL HOME 13TH STREET CHAPEL with words of comfort provided by Pastor Tom Leach and Steve Evans. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
Although flowers are welcome, contributions in Jimmy’s memory may be made to Wildwood Baptist Church or Community Hospice.
