John Donald Morrison

John Donald Morrison, 81, of Ashland, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Edgewood Manor of Lucasville.
He was born July 20, 1939, in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of the late Christopher (Pete) and Edith Collins Morrison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Christopher Morrison and three sisters, Jean Hughes, Geraldine Nelson, Deanna Caines.
John was a 1957 graduate of Ashland High School; he graduated with a degree in Economics from Marshall University and a master’s degree in Psychology from Morehead State University. He retired following a 37-year career with Armco Steel. He served honorably in the United States Navy; was a member of Mensa International, 32nd degree Mason at Poage Masonic Lodge F&AM 325, Scottish Rite and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Amy Collins Morrison of Ashland; daughters, Sheree (Gregory) Bartley of Russell, KY, and Joan Morrison of Smyrna, TN; brother, Everett (Katie) Morrison of Ashland; and a host of extended family members and dear friends.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel with Chaplain Jimm Smedley officiating. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
