Joyce Kay Adkins

Joyce Kay Adkins, 85, of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Ashland and Huntington, died peacefully Thursday, September 15, 2022, in Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital.
She was born October 16, 1936, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Guy and Nellie Calhoun Polley. In addition to her parents, siblings, Charles Polley, Don Polley and Donna Polley Caudill preceded her in death.
Joyce was born and raised in Ashland. She had a long and rewarding career with Marshall University and retired as a Personnel Administrator Assistant.
Those left to cherish her memory include three children,  son, Guy Darrell Slone spouse, Kathy Slone of Ashland, KY, daughter; Stephanie (Adkins) Whittle spouse, Duane Whittle of Myrtle Beach, SC,
son; Andrew Adkins spouse, Rodelyn Adkins of Surfside Beach, SC; grandchildren, Dr. Adam Slone,  Brandon Slone, Amber Clay-Burns,  Jamie (Adkins) Buffkin who Joyce raised from birth, and Daniel Adkins Trautwein; great grandchildren; Rylan Slone and Easton Slone; relatives and special friends, Doug and Brenda Calhoun, Evelyn Young, Clara Ross, Besty Arnette, and Danée Maynard.  
Funeral services will be held 11:00am Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at the STEEN FUNERAL HOME CENTRAL AVENUE CHAPEL by Rev. Jack E. Edwards. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be Wednesday prior to services beginning at 10:00am at the funeral home.
