Joyce Miller Nash, 96, of Ashland, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020 in the Lantern at Morning Pointe.
Joyce was born July 25, 1923, in Ashland, Kentucky, the only child of Hillard E. and Fan Sizemore Miller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Richard Thomas “Dick” Nash on February 1, 2015.
Joyce was a very active member of First Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Session and Poage Circle. She was a graduate of Ashland High School, Stephens College and University of Kentucky. She was a retired teacher and principal at Holy Family Catholic School and was awarded Teacher of the Year in 1987 .She spent many years volunteering with Friends of the Children and Community Kitchen.
Survivors include daughters, Janice Nash (Jerry) Calvert of Fairfield, OH, and Ellen Nash (Patrick) Sharp of Ashland; 5 grandchildren, Richard (Christina) Sharp, Emily (Jeff) Harris, Joy (Chip) Oakley, Paul Bradford and Jill (Marc) Hauser; and 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2020, at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel with Rev. Bill Pollack officiating. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from Noon until 1 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
