Katherine Ragsdale Berner

Katherine “Kay” Berner, beloved wife, mother and grandmother died peacefully on Friday, November 26, 2021, at her residence.

She was born October 15, 1953, in North Carolina, to the late Forrest Ragsdale and Sally Forsythe Houser. In addition to her parents, a stepfather, Max Houser; and a brother, James Ragsdale preceded her in death.

Kay, along with her family owned and operated the Chimney Corner Tea Room in Ashland. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and volunteered with Backstage Players Children’s Theatre.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Joseph Berner of Ashland; daughter, Joanna (Mike) Murdock of Chesapeake, OH; son, Matt (Scotti Ann) Berner of Ashland; brother, Forrest (Elizabeth) Ragsdale of Louisville, KY, and Phillip (Jill) Houser of Blackduck, Minn.; sister, Mary (David) Thomas of Orlando, FL; sister-in-law, Beth Hamilton Moore of Lexington, KY; and two grandchildren, Charli Ann Berner and Cameron Berner.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from Noon until 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 11, 2021 at STEEN FUNERAL HOME CENTRAL AVENUE CHAPEL.
