Kenneth C. Smith II, 66, of Ashland, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester, KY.
Ken was born September 18, 1952 in Ashland, a son of the late Kenneth C. Smith and Sue Tackett Smith Sanders.
Ken was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Ashland where he served as Deacon, Deacon Chair, Personnel Committee, R.A. Leader, Church Usher, Sunday school teacher, choir and bell ringer.
Ken was a Real Estate Broker and Appraiser serving the tri-state area for 43 years. He held a BS Degree from the University of Kentucky in Accounting. Ken served on the Ashland Board of Realtors and was Realtor of the Year. He served as president of Ashland Area Board of Realtors 3 times in 1978, 1988 and 1998. Ken was instrumental in both the formation of the Multi-Listing Service and assisting the Kentucky Association of Realtors in the design and implementation of testing requirements. He passed on his knowledge of the industry by teaching Real Estate and Principals Appraisal classes at both Ashland Community College and Morehead University for more than 30 years. Ken was a member of the South Ashland Lions Club which he took great pride in.
Survivors include his loving wife Ginny Hunt Smith of Ashland, his son Kenneth C. “Trey” Smith III and wife Shawnda of Ashland, his daughter Molly True Smith of Ashland, his sister Jenny Sue Smith of Louisville, KY, his adoring grandchildren Ethan Applewhite, Ellie Ward, Abby Ward, Marianne Smith, Phoebe Smith, Paul Smith and a host of extended family, colleagues and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel by Pastor Ken Gowin. Entombment will follow in the Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 6-8pm Monday evening at the funeral home.
