Luther Douglas Taylor, Jr., 80, of Ashland, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
He was born November 8, 1942 in Ashland, Kentucky to the late Luther Douglas Taylor, Sr. and Kathryn Buck Taylor. In addition to his parents, a grandson, Jared Stacey Williams; great grandson, Aiden Luther King; and two sisters, Mary Kathryn McConnell and husband, Paul, and Anna Elizabeth Taylor preceded him in death.
Doug was a 1960 graduate of Boyd County High School, after two years of college he completed a five year Electrical apprenticeship and later retired from Local IBEW 317 as an Inside Wireman. Doug was a member of Brush Creek Free Will Baptist Church. In his early years he enjoyed Hot Rodding and Drag Racing with his friends. After marrying the love of his life Janice, he was happiest being surrounded by his family. He loved farming and spent many years tending to his family farm.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 56 years, Janice Cumpston Taylor; three children, Terry (Valerie) Taylor, Deana Taylor, and Matthew (Crystal) Taylor; sister, Paula Jane Taylor; grandchildren, Shane Williams, Luke Taylor, Madeline Taylor, Taylor Levering, Tatum Levering, Tia (Corey Jones) Levering, Harrison Taylor, Minnie Isabella Taylor and Elijah Taylor; 5 great grandchildren, and a host of extended family members and dear friends.
A celebration of Doug’s life will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2023 at STEEN FUNERAL HOME 13TH STREET CHAPEL with Frank Hackworth and Joe Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
