Margaret Riggs Bradley (née Ramey), 95, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed into the Kingdom of God on the evening of December 11, 2018 at Cornerstone Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia.


Margaret was born in Ashland on August 17, 1923. After graduating from Ashland High School in 1941, she worked at Woolworths in Ashland and the King Powder Company in Raceland. She married William Irwin Riggs on May 23, 1953 and was blessed by the birth of their son, William Clay, on May 20, 1954. Margaret and William were married for 32 years before he preceded her in death. Margaret married again in 1988 to Milton R. Bradley, and enjoyed thirteen years of marriage before he passed away in 2001.

Margaret worked for over 30 years at Ashland Oil before retiring. A long standing member of the United Methodist Church (UMC), she served as church treasurer and president of the United Methodist Women (UMW) at Christ UMC and a conference officer of the UMW while a member of Cannonsburg Trinity UMC. She spent her many years caring for all those whom she loved, and is remembered warmly for her generosity, grace, courage, and kindness, her vivid spirit, and her steadfast devotion to the Lord. 

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents Alamander M. and Fanny C. Ramey, her brothers William and Frederick, and her husbands William Riggs and Milton Bradley. 

She is survived by her son, William Riggs of Fredericksburg, Virginia, her step-children, William Bradley, Constance Shuster, and John Bradley, all of Ashland, Margaret Tevis of Owingsville, Kentucky, their children and grandchildren, her grandchildren, Anna Riggs of Meade County Kentucky , Amanda Meyers of Alexandria, Virginia and Victoria M. Riggs of Ashland, Kentucky, and her great-grandson, Benjamin Meyers.

The funeral will be held at 11AM Saturday December 15 at Steen Funeral Home, 13th Street Ashland, with visitation held at 6-8PM Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral at Ashland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memorial may be given to the Cannonsburg Trinity UMC food pantry, where Margaret spent many years volunteering her time and love.
