Margaret Jacqueline “Jackie” Kersey, 92, of Ashland, died peacefully Saturday, August 29, 2020, at the Lantern.
She was born May 12, 1928, in Ashland, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Gaylord and Naomi Conway White. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Virgil Kersey in 2007; brothers, Robert, Donald and Michael White; and sisters, Erlene Yarber and Wanda White.
Jackie had an adventure at a young age supporting the war effort by operating a drill press in Cleveland, Ohio. Like a lot of people, she lied about her age to get the job. She and her husband owned and operated City Auto Trim. Jackie was a devoted homemaker, mother, and was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Allen Kersey and wife Carolyn and Victor Kersey and wife, Jamie of Ashland; daughter, Wanda Kersey of Huber Heights, OH; brother, Gaylord “Buggs” White, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; sister, Judy Hale of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren, Raymond Kersey, Victor R. Kersey, Meredith Kersey, Justin Kersey (Dorinda Drake) and Christina Meade (Matt Davis); four great grandchildren, McKenzie Kersey, Molly Kersey, Milo Kersey and Grant Kersey; great-great grandchild, Jillian Mango Kersey; and a host of extended family members and dear friends.
A celebration of Jackie’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2020, at STEEN FUNERAL HOME CENTRAL AVENUE CHAPEL with Tom Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery.
