Marvin Eugene Little

May 9, 1940 ~ January 1, 2021 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Tribute

Marvin Eugene Little, 80, of Ashland, KY passed away at the Community Hospice Care Center and went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2021. He was born on May 9, 1940 in Ashland to the late James A. and Lillian Craycraft Little.
Marvin seldom met a stranger and greeted everyone with a big smile and firm handshake. He valued his friends and spoke of them often. His abundant energy led him in many directions in life and it was a life well spent. He started working in his early teens and never slowed down. After graduating from Ashland Sr. High School in 1958 he hired on at Armco Steel where he was a locomotive engineer and eventually moved up to foreman. He loved working with heavy equipment and had a homebased bulldozing business in his 30’s and gradually moved to trucks. He founded A.D. Little Trucking in the 70’s using dump trucks hauling coal and then industrial waste from Armco, Calgon and the ethanol plant in Ohio. After selling that business and retiring from Armco after 35 years, he drove 18 wheelers for Walmart and soon founded Indian Ridge Transport which consisted of 6 semis. He hauled all across the U.S. and northern Canada. After dissolving that company he worked for Local #181 Operating Engineers Union. He also loved to fly. He acquired his private pilot license and had his own small plane. He eventually went to work at KDMC as a medical transport driver where he finally retired for good.
He was a workaholic but also loved to have fun with his family. When his daughter casually mentioned she wanted a horse he bought a farm, built a house and barn where the family boarded and rode horses.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Arlene Whitlock Little, a son David E. Little and daughter Marlene (Billy) Enyart; three much loved grandchildren Dr. Joshua (Meghan) Enyart, Casey Ann (Jonathan) Darby and Austin Alan Little. He was also blessed with great grandchildren Ellie, Cooper, Colin and Kinley Enyart and Layla Jade Darby. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and many others whom he was in contact with during his busy life. The family wants to give special thanks to those who have stood by them and prayed for them during this trying time, including his doctors and caregivers at KDH and Community Hospice.
