June 20, 1940 ~ September 1, 2023 (age 83) 83 Years Old
Maxine Mosley Cosby 83, of Ashland, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord while surrounded by her family, on Friday, September 1, 2023, in Community Hospice Care Center.
She was born June 20, 1940, in Jasper, Alabama, to the late Tommy Lee Mosley and Julia Patmon Scott. In addition to her parents, her husband, Rev. Roy Cosby; a son, Myron Houston; son in law, Larry Watts; brothers, Wardell Mosley, Nathaniel Echols and Sammy Scott; and two half-sisters, Ernestine White and Cora Scott preceded her in death.
Maxine was a member of Christ Temple Church in Ashland, where she served in the choir, usher board and was the founder of the Christ Temple Junior Missionary which she oversaw for 20 years. She was the former First Lady of Lighthouse Temple Church in Wheelwright, Kentucky where her husband served as pastor. Throughout her time in Wheelwright, she was equally involved in various church and social activities. Maxine was a talented seamstress and in later years enjoyed attending the Ashland Senior Center. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include three sons, William (Shirleen) Houston, Roy (Nora) Cosby, Jr. and Shawn (Kathleen) Cosby; three daughters, Anita (Joel) Taylor, Phyllis (Stan) Smith and Jo Carol Watts; daughter in law, Nancy Houston; two brothers, Bobby (Deborah) Scott and Dexter (Teresa) Scott; sisters, Frankie White, Francine Johnson, Lula (Calvin) Troxler and Beverly Scott; 19 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and a host of extended family members and dear friends.
Homegoing services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Christ Temple Church with District Elder J.D. Crockrel officiating. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
