Michael Lee Wilson passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 70 on Thursday, November 12, 2020. He was a resident of Starke, Florida and formerly lived in Ponte Vedra, Florida for several decades.
Mike, as he was known to friends and family, was born in Ashland, Kentucky on July 17, 1950. Proceeding him in death: his father Edward Wilson, his mother Doris Virginia Wilson, his grandmother Ethel Bowling, and daughter-in-law April Wilson.
Mike is survived by his son Christopher Michael Wilson, of Starke, FL; granddaughters Brieanna Wilson, of Lake City, FL and Madison Wilson, of Raleigh, NC; great-grandchildren Keizer Spaulding of Jacksonville, FL and Kinsley Wilson of Lake City, FL; brothers Sammy Crum of Virginia Beach, VA and Shane Wilson of Portsmouth, VA; sisters Teresa Galliher of Bryan, TX, Brenda Jarchow of Virginia Beach, VA, and Stacey McKenzie of Winchester, KY.
Early in life, Mike ventured into welding and was a Boilermaker for some time. He later fulfilled his dream of owning his own business and opening up MD’s Sports Pub in Jacksonville Beach, FL. He even extended his business acumen into a lawn care service MLI Incorporated before retirement.
He will always be remembered for his love of motorcycles and sports cars. Everyone that knew him respected his patriotism, passion for the 2nd Amendment, and enthusiasm for both antique and modern weaponry. He was a charismatic man who was well known for his story telling and jokes. Mike never met a stranger, and could easily strike up a conversation with anyone.
On November 28, 2020 at 11:00 AM, Steen Funeral Home will hold a Graveside Service at Golden Oaks Cemetery in Ashland, KY. Eulogy will be presented by his sister Stacey McKenzie.
