Opal Easterling McGlone Spurlock, 99, of Ashland, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2020, in Woodland Oaks Health Care Center.
She was born September 7, 1920, in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Robert Dennis and Clara Goble Easterling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Howard Castle, Edgar McGlone and George W. Spurlock. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Clara Jane Wilson; and sisters, Ellen Jane Hogan and Virginia Lewis.
Opal was a member of Unity Baptist Church. She was a 1938 graduate of Ashland Senior High School. She was the pianist at Tunnell Hill Freewill Baptist and played piano at different churches during her younger years.
Survivors include a son, David and wife Avinell Castle of Ashland; son in law, Timothy Wilson of Florida; sister, Elizabeth Dobyns of Ashland; 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m Thursday, January 16, 2019 at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel with Pastor Gene Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
