Paul Edward Monn, 52, of Ashland, passed away suddenly Monday, September 20, 2021 at his residence. Paul was born August 21, 1969 in Ft. Campbell, Ky, a son of the late Stanley C. Monn, Sr., formerly of Ashland, and Evie C. Lucas of Centerburg, Oh. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Amanda Nikita Monn and a nephew, Eric Stanley Monn.
Paul served proudly with the United States Navy for 5 years, entering straight out of high school, (Boyd County Class of 1987) until receiving his honorable discharge in 1992, serving as a dental assistant for 3 of those years while stationed at Oceana Naval Air Station in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Award and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. Additionally, he was active in softball, volleyball and Hopkido.
Paul's employment post-military includes the former CAE Vanguard, Inc in Russell, Ky, his father's company S&T Concrete and various bartending jobs in the clubs where he was a member including the Ashland Elks Lodge 350, Ashland Legion Post 76, the Laidback in Ironton, Oh, and most recently the Raceland Legion Post 43 Additionally, he was a member of the Ashland Fraternal Order of Eagles. Paul was a people person, enjoying time spent with family, friends, music and sports ...A lifelong, die-hard fan of the UK Wildcats. He would greatly appreciate anyone attending services to wear UK or USA, as those were two of his favorite things.
In addition to his mother, Evie, survivors include his only son, Hunter J. Monn, of Lexington, daughters Rylee D. Monn (Bryan Woolums) of Lexington, Skylar R. Monn of Ashland and bonus daughter Cheyenne N. Ritchie of Ashland. Brothers Stanley C. Monn (Loral) of Panama City, Fl, John D. Monn (Kimberly) of Panama City, Fl, Eric S. Monn of Argillite, and bonus mom and best buddy Tammy Monn of Argillite. Mothers of his children, Michelle Hodges of Lexington and Misty Monn of Ashland. Nephews Josh Monn, Timmy Monn, Jeremiah Moore and Connor Monn. Nieces Mikayla Monn, Kaitlyn Monn, Brittney Coleman, Madison Moore and Jalyssa Moore. Grandsons Walker James Woolums, Levi David Woolums and Braden Jonathan Payne. Special "brothers" Vance Conley, Shayne Self and John Orta as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 12pm Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens. Chaplain James Smedley will officiate.
