Paul Carlton Wamsley, 83, of Ashland, passed away at Oakmont Manor on Thursday, April 22, 2021.
He was born April 23, 1937, in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of the late William Oliver and Lila Ellis Wamsley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine siblings, Clarence, William, Elwood, Raymond, Robert, Ruth, Hazel, Betty and Mary.
Paul retired following a long career with Armco Steel and served honorably in the Army National Guard. He enjoyed sports and spent many years coaching Little League, Babe Ruth and Stan Musial Baseball. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and UK Basketball. Paul was a devoted family man and often worked midnight shifts so he could attend activities of his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Bonnie Lee Stevens Wamsley; two sons, Herb (Anita) Wamsley and Scott (Denise) Wamsley; sister, Anna Mae (Bob) Fugett; grandchildren, Scott (Christina) Wamsley, Jr., Jennifer (Travis) Lewis, Dylan (Amy Elswick) Wamsley, Taylor Eden, Kyle (Kristy) Puckett, Andy Puckett, C.J. (Sarah) Wamsley, Catie (Steven) Hunt; and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at STEEN FUNERAL HOME CENTRAL AVENUE CHAPEL. Burial will follow in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from Noon until 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
