Paula McKinney Layne

Paula McKinney Layne, 55, of Ashland, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019, at her residence.

She was born April 11, 1964, in Ashland, Kentucky, a daughter of Harold McKinney and Barbara Claxon McKinney of Cape Coral, FL.

Paula graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Ohio University and a Masters in Science Education from Morehead State University. She retired from the Boyd County School System following a 28 year teaching career. She currently worked as a realtor with Century 21 Brooks Wells Enterprises.

In addition to her parents, those left to cherish her memory include her three children, Ashley Layne and Taylor Layne of Ashland, KY, and Phillip Layne of Hillsboro, OR; fiancé Tom Cumpton of Leesburg, FL; her four legged companion, Ella; and a host of loving extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary McKinney.

A celebration of Paula’s life will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel.
