Ralph E. Campbell, 70, of Ashland, passed away Monday evening, September 13, 2021 at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland. Ralph was born November 7, 1950, in Ashland, a son of Don (Linda) Campbell of Ashland and the late Maxine Greene Quesinberry.
Ralph was a 1968 graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School. He was a 39 year member of First Baptist Church in Ashland and served as church deacon, church shepherd, Sunday School Teacher and Bible Study leader. His hobbies included bowling and he was proud of his “20 perfect games”. He was a former member and chaplain of the Fred M. Gross Masonic Lodge and a former El Hasa Shrine chaplain and 33rd degree Scottish Rites.
Ralph started a career with Ashland Oil and retired from Marathon’s Catlettsburg Refinery as Supervisor of the electric shop. He served his country honorably during the Vietnam War with the United States Navy aboard the USS Midway.
Those left to cherish his memory in addition to his father include his loving wife of 53 years Cathy Davis Campbell of Ashland, his daughter Crystal (Jim) Newkirk of Catlettsburg, a son Brian Campbell of Raleigh, NC, a brother David (Darlene) Campbell of Hazard, KY, a sister Donna Blanton and her son Michael of Wendell, NC, grandchildren Cayla Campbell, Emma Newkirk, several cousins and extended family.
A celebration service will be held at 7:00pm Wednesday evening at the Ashland First Baptist Church, 1701 Winchester Avenue. Pastor Mackey Gaskin will officiate.
Visitation will be held prior from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the church
A committal service will be held 11:00am Thursday morning at the Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland with full military honors.
