Ralph Edward Smith

Ralph Edward “Eddie” Smith passed at his Ashland home on September 16, 2020. Eddie was born on October 16, 1957 in Ashland to the late Loretta W. and James A. Smith. He was also preceded in death by brothers James “Jimmy” Smith and William David Smith.

Eddie is survived by a daughter, Candace Smith and granddaughter Sophie Anna Vella Smith; sister Lora (Philip) Stewart and two brothers Mike (Dixie) Smith and Randy (Patty) Smith. Eddie’s nieces include Jessica Smith, Brittney (Adam) Bowen, Allison (Ben) Jenkins, Kelly (James) Smallwood, Julie (Joe) Thacker, and Kim (Edgar) Melendez and nephews Jason (Kimberly) Smith and Tyler Smith. 

A true blue Kentuckian, Eddie loved his community almost as much as he loved the Kentucky Wildcats. The neighborhood will never be the same without his smile and helping hand. Ed was always there to assist a friend in need, and served many years helping with all of the behind-the-scenes work at Summer Motion and Poage Landing Days. He was always ready with a smile, a laugh, and a goofy joke for the kids. He could often be found at a local ball field cheering on his nieces and nephews while they played. 

Services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2020 at Steen Funeral Home - 13th Street Chapel with speaking by Adam Bowen and Jason Smith. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. with services to follow at 4 p.m.
