Rex. B. Walters, 82, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at his residence. Rex was born April 28. 1937 in Ashland, a son of the late Heiskel and Lena Mae Borders Walters. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brother Chester Walters and sisters Nell Frances Dickison and Alice Jean Walters.
Rex was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ashland and served under Sheriff George Hall as a Boyd County Deputy Sheriff. He worked as an insurance adjuster with James J. Ryan and Kemper and Thompson insurance companies and was a 50 year member of the Elks Lodge, B.P.O.E #350 in Ashland. Rex served with the Ashland Fire Department and retired with over 22 years of service as Captain. Rex served his country honorably with the Kentucky Army National Guard.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 56 Years Margaret Ann Stephens Walters of Ashland, daughter Beth Ann Francis and husband Gary, brother Edwin Shane Walters and wife Anne of Tallahassee, FL, grandchildren Lauren Elizabeth Childers, Gabrielle Morgan Francis and a host of extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held 2:00pm Thursday, January 2, 2020, at the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel by Reverend Jeff Bramel. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00pm till service time.
