Richard Petrechko of Ashland, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at his residence. He was 98 years old.
Richard was born July 7, 1923, in Sugar Creek, (Jackson County), Missouri. He was the son of the late Stephen and Helen Roulock Petrechko. He served his country proudly during World War II with the United States Navy. Richard was discharged with the rank of Torpedoman Second Class, serving in the Pacific aboard the Destroyers USS Roper and the USS Charles J. Badger.
After the war, Richard found a career as a Boilermaker with over 35 years of service. He held positions as a foreman and steward. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Ashland, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.
Survivors include his son Richard Eugene Petrechko daughters Paula Lynn and Karen Anne, 7 grandchildren and his niece Beth Sigler of Ashland.
Funeral services will be held 12:30 pm, Friday September 10, 2021 at Steen Funeral Home 13th St. Chapel with the Rev. Father D. Andrew Canon Garner, KHS presiding.
Burial with full military honors will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East.
Visitation will be prior to services on Friday from 11:00am till service time at the funeral home.
