Richard Charles “Rick” Ransbottom, 65, of Wurtland, KY, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Rick was born June 13, 1955, in Huntington, West Virginia, a son of the late Lee Charles and Dixie Oney Ransbottom.
Rick retired form CSX after 37 years of service as a Locomotive Engineer.
Rick grew up in Wurtland. He graduated from Russell High School and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisville. He repaired and restored Lionel trains, was an avid cyclist and a former magician. Rick also played and collected guitars. Rick’s latest passion was the art of jewelry making. His home was always a gathering place for friends and family, and always an open house for his daughters and grandchildren’s friends. Rick and Cindy were lovingly reffered to as Pa and Meme.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 40 years Cindy K. Barber Ransbottom of Wurtland, his daughter Carole Hunt and husband Sean of Wurtland, his grandchildren, Levi Hunt and Mackenzie Hunt and a host of extended family and friends.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held Thursday evening beginning at 6:00pm with a service and dinner to follow at the Warehouse at Bridges Christian Church. All are welcome.
