Tribute

Robbye Diane Bracey Mann, 87, of Lexington, KY, formerly of Ashland, KY died on March 5, 2019 at her home in Lexington, KY.
Diane was born February 27, 1932 in Darbun, MS and began her life’s journey in New Orleans, LA where she was married. She later moved to Ashland, KY to raise her family. While she had wonderful memories of her early years in Mississippi and New Orleans, Diane loved Kentucky and Kentucky loved her back. Diane was the daughter of the late Robert Lafitte and Mary Duthea Brumfield Bracey and the wife of the late Jim H. Mann.
Diane was a retiree of the US Postal Service where she was an Administrator in the Human Resources Department. Before her retirement, she also worked for Ashland Oil, C & O Railroad, and the US Postal Inspection Service in Ashland.
While living in the New Orleans area, she attended Southeastern Louisiana University and worked for Gulf Oil Company.
Diane was an accomplished pianist and thoroughly enjoyed her many years as a piano teacher although few knew of this talent because of Diane’s modesty.
Diane was a member of the First Baptist Church while residing in Ashland. She was the true definition of humble, meek, tolerant, kind and gentle. Those who came into contact with Diane were always enriched by Diane’s loving and comforting words.
Diane deeply cherished her family and friends. Her family will sorely miss her gentle ways and loving kindness. Surviving are her three children; James Mann (Jan) of New Orleans, Julie Mann Bullen (Ed) of Versailles, KY and Mary Diane Mann of Ashland. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Dr. Matthew Mann, Michael Mann, Ellie Bullen and Ethan Swann.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel with Chaplain Jimm Smedley officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon till service time at 1:00 Friday at the funeral home.
