Tribute

Robert Grant “Bill” Stapleton, 92, of Ashland, passed away Monday, June 27, 2022 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Bill was born May 14, 1930, in Pikeville, KY, a son of the late Theodore “Ted’ and Buna Coleman Stapleton. In addition to his parents, his sisters Catherine Allen and Lucille Stapleton and a grandson Robert Matthew Welch preceded him in death.
Bill was a very active member of the Meade Station Church of God. He loved traveling and supporting all missionary work. He was a graduate of the Maytown High School and received his Mining Engineering degree from the University of Kentucky. Bill worked for several companies over the years including Novamont in Kenova, WV and the Durametallic Corp in Kalamazoo, MI. Bill served his country honorably with the United States Army during the Korean War.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife whom he married on February 6, 1955 Garnet Bowling Stapleton of Ashland, his son Michael Kevin Stapleton and wife Carolyn of Catlettsburg, KY, his daughters Pamela Sue Stapleton Welch and husband John of Simpsonville, SC, Teddi Jo Stapleton Mansfield and husband Kent of Ashland, KY, grandchildren Megan Leslie Webb (Alan), Kaitlin Marie Callihan (Kevin), great grandchildren, Nora Gray Webb, Mason Robert Webb and Katherine Michelle Callihan. The Family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Timothy Hart physician, neighbor and friend for his care. Bill will be missed by a host of extended family and good friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Friday, July 1, 2022 at the STEEN FUNERAL HOME CENTRAL AVENUE CHAPEL by Pastor Rob Jordan. Burial with full military honors will be in the Bowling Cemetery on Whites Creek.
Visitation will be Friday prior to services beginning at 11:00am until service time at the funeral home.
