Roberta (Bobbi) Jeanne Vanover Scott, passed away September 16th of natural causes. The daughter of Virgil and Della Vanover, Roberta was 96 years of age and a resident of Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods, KY.
Jeanne was born a twin on November 4, 1926, in Ashland on Glenn Street moving to Summit at age three. Raised through the depression she later worked at Johnson Dairy (Rockdale), Walker Shoes and Franks Shoes while starting a family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Elwood Scott in 2023; son, Steven Randal Scott in 1970; sisters, Mary Horne and Grace Lee; and a brother, Virgil Allen Vanover.
Jeanne enjoyed family and travel, making trips to Mexico, The Holy Land and Europe. She loved to entertain with the Rosetta’s song and dance group at church events as well as local nursing homes. Jeanne attended Trinity Non-Denomination Church and was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church as well as a former member of First Baptist Church of Ashland. Jeanne was a member of Rose Hill WMU, prayer group and The Rosetta’s living her life through her faith in Christ. She shared her time, money and uplifting outlook of life to those around her.
Surviving are her sisters, Joann Sterling and Nancy Kay Arthur; a son, Gary Scott (Gayla) of Flatwoods; a daughter, Debra Gill (David) of Flatwoods, seven grandchildren, terra White, Steven Scott, Kendel Fantozzo, Michelle Stringer, Scott Gill, Lauren Mixon, Yana Gill and fifteen great grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, September22, 2023 at STEEN FUNERAL HOME 13TH STREET CHAPEL with fond memories shared by her family and friends. There will not be a time of visitation prior to the service, however friends are encouraged to arrive prepared to share your favorite memories.
She will be laid to rest privately at Rose Hill Burial Park.
