Roger D. Jones, 71, of Catlettsburg, KY, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018 at River’s Bend Health Care in South Point, OH and is in the presence of his Heavenly Father after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Roger was born Jan. 8, 1947, a son of the late Haymon and Della Breedlove Jones. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister Yvonne Carol Jones Tackett, a great niece Tanya Breeding and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Roger was a disabled Army Veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the graduating 1966 class of Sissonville High School. He was a member of the Abundant Life United Pentecostal Church in Raceland, KY. Roger was an avid Marshall, Mountaineer and Cincinnati Reds fan. He worked as a security guard and was a laborer by trade.
Survivors include his daughter Brittany Dawn Jones and her mother Barb of Olive Hill, KY, his son Leonard Dewayne Jones of Florida, nieces Kimberly Tackett (Paul) Adams of Catlettsburg, KY, Lisa Tackett Chapman of Dover, DE, Joanna (Tim) Breeding of Westwood, KY, great niece Angelina (George) Dalton of Ashland and their son Jonah, great nephew Adam Meade of Catlettsburg, KY, a special friend, his VA Nurse Brittany and a host of friends, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 12:00pm Monday, Nov. 12, 2018 at the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel by Pastor Anthony Keaton. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Flora Hills Garden of Memories in Sissonville, WV.
Visitation will be prior to the service Monday from 10:00am till 12:00 noon at the funeral home.
