Ronald Damron, 71, of Ashland, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Mr. Damron was born March 21, 1947 in Louisa, Kentucky, a son of the late Otis Glendon Damron and Deryle Faye Preston Martin. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brother Steve Damron.
Ron was a member of the Moore Street Tabernacle in Ashland. He retired as a service technician with GTE and served his country honorably with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years Kathy Back Damron of Ashland and her mother Florence Back also of Ashland, sons Jeff Damron of Ashland, Kevin Damron and wife Jessica of Spokane, WA, brother Gary (Barb) Preston of Ashland, sister Glenda (Mike) Stockton of Bent Mountain, VA, grandchildren Ryan Damron, Matthew Damron, Nathaniel Damron, sister-in-law Kim Damron, sister-in-law Patricia (Bob) Williams, Brother-in-laws Keith (Pam) Back, Ronald Dean Back, several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held 12:30pm Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at the Steen Funeral Home 13th St. Chapel by Danny Pancake and Mike Greene. Burial with military honors will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home and Tuesday from 11:30 am till service time.
