Ruth Genevieve Hollan Baker, 90, passed away peacefully Thursday April 30th at Trinity Station Retirement Community.
She was born December 27, 1929, in Ashland, Ky., a daughter of the late Colson Hollan and Eula Utterback Hollan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years Lunda “Jack” Baker and youngest son, Kevin.
Ruth was a graduate of Ashland High School and longtime member of Wildwood First Church of God. Many will remember Ruth from her many years in Ashland real estate which she so immensely enjoyed. Ruth was the only girl in a small home on Logan Street in Ashland with eight brothers of which she was the middle child. Her mother was struck by a train and killed when Ruth was 14, and at 17 she married Jack. She had three children (all boys, of course).
Survivors include two sons, Garry Baker (Missi) of Ashland, Ky., and Tim Baker (Patti) of Ashland; two brothers, Fred Hollan and Wendall Hollan.; six grandchildren, Matt Baker (Renee), Alisa Baker (Ryan Black), Angie Costa (Matt), Amy Bruner (Zack), Ashley Powell (Chris) and Austin Greenwell; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family would like to acknowledge Ruth’s best friend and favorite sister in law, Doris Hollan; and special caregiver, Linda Farmer.
A private burial will be held at Rose Hill Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations to an Ashland Food Charity would be appreciated.
