Ruth Matthews

Ruth Little Matthews, 84, of Ashland, KY, formerly of Sevierville, TN passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, December 17, 2019 at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland. Ruth was born August 29, 1935, in Dorton, KY, one of eleven children born to the late Son and Samantha Tackett Roberts. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by husbands Perry Little in 1999 and Freeman Matthews in 2019, a daughter Karen Bowling, six brothers and four sisters.
Ruth and her late husband Perry owned and operated the former Quality Gas Propane Business and the Douglyn Park Campground on Route 60 in Ashland.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters Kathy Sleigher and husband Robert of West Columbia, SC, Perri Lisa Owens and husband Jeff of Lenoir City, TN, five granddaughters, seven great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held 2:00pm January 4, 2020 at the Johnson Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel in Pikeville, KY by family and friends. Burial will follow next to her late husband Perry Little.
Family and friends may visit one hour prior to services from 1:00 – 2:00 at the Mausoleum Chapel.
