Scott Brian Kirchner, 53, of Greenup passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at his residence. Scott was born June 16, 1964 in Oakhurst, NJ, a son of the late Walter and Shirley Kirchner.

Scott joined the Army when he was 17 years old and retired as Staff Sergeant with 21 (active) years of service. His primary specialty was with the Military Police. After the Army, Scott continued in law enforcement with the Department of Justice as an Investigative Analyst with the Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms division. He was awarded numerous awards throughout his career in both the Army and ATF. He developed a training program which was adopted by the US Army.

Scott loved to hunt and was an avid farmer and outdoorsman. He was skilled in the art of taxidermy and served as president of the Simon Kenton Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He volunteered with the Heart of Phoenix Equine Rescue.

Scott loved his family and will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his loving wife Angela Marie Kirchner of Greenup, sons Christopher Kirchner and his wife Melissa and Benjamin Kirchner and wife Jamie, both Active Duty USAF, daughters Audra Kirchner of Landis, NC, Amber Kirchner of Lexington, KY and five grandchildren.

A celebration to honor Scott’s life will be held at 12:00pm, Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the Steen Funeral Home, Central Avenue Chapel by Chaplain Jimm Smedley. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East.

Visitation will be from 11:00am till 12:00pm Thursday at the funeral home.
