Sharon Kay Boyle Payne, (79) of Ashland, KY died on Friday, January 7th 2022 at home after recently being diagnosed with ALS.
Sharon was born on February 21, 1942 in Greenup County, KY, a daughter of the late Arthur and Opal Alexander Boyle. She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Dallas and Gilford Boyle, and four sisters: Wanda Sperry; Joann Snoddy, Bonnie Elswick, and Theda Eldridge.
Sharon graduated from Wurtland High School in 1959. She was employed in the Accounting Dept for Armco Steel then later became a full-time homemaker and mother. She was very involved in the Boyd County Extension Homemakers for many years. She was a long-time member of Centenary Methodist Church in Ashland where she taught Sunday school, was a member of the choir, served on the Administrative Board and the Finance Committee. For the past 10 years, she attended Cannonsburg Trinity Methodist Church. She enjoyed RVing, boating, spending time at the beach, and wintering in Florida for 17 years.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Gerald (Jerry) Payne; two daughters: Leigh Ann Chamberlin of Alexandria, KY and Amy (Greg) Quatman of Georgetown, KY; four grandchildren: Shelby Chamberlin, Jacob Chamberlin, Luke Chamberlin, and Evan Quatman; a brother: Garal (Sondra) Boyle of Argillite, KY; and a sister Bernice (Sandy) Williams of Ft Walton Beach, FL, and her nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held on April 1 at 1:00 PM at Cannonsburg Trinity United Methodist Church and will be officiated by Pastor Bruce Lee. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM.
