Silas Denver Oney

Silas Denver Oney, 86, of Summit, passed away Monday, April 15, 2019 in Rivers Bend Health Care Center.
He was born March 30, 1933, in Greenup County, Kentucky, a son of the late Rev. James L. and Mary Griffith Oney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Yvonne Dee Oney; brother, James D. Oney; and a sister, Lena Leibee.
Silas was a member of Westwood Church of Christ. He served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War where he bravely delivered supplies to the front lines. He retired following 42 years of service from Armco Steel and 15 years of service from Cannonsburg Walmart.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Beulah Davis Oney of Summit; son, Silas Craig Oney and wife, Kathryn of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughters, Deborah Conley and husband Paul “Corkie” of Summit, and Theresa Haney of Ashland; brother, Michael H. Oney and wife, Carla of Flatwoods, KY; sisters, Wanda Faye Tackett of Lexington, KY, Frances Stone Leibee of Westwood, Virginia Cordle of Westwood and Dorothy Yates of Flatwoods; grandchildren, Jennifer Batten, Amy Mounce, Amber Dalton, Kelly Chapman, Jessica Stewart, Katelin Oney, Alissa Oney and Jason Oney; 13 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; and a host of loving extended family members and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2019 at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel with Samuel Meek officiating. A private burial will take place at McKnight Cemetery.
Visitation will from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
