Sonya Lynn Stephens

Sonya Lynn Stephens, 59, of Catlettsburg, was born April 30, 1963, in Xenia, Ohio and passed gently into eternal peace on Saturday, July 2, 2022, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents, Perry and Joyce Miller Shope; and two brothers, Jeff and Keith Shope.
The most important thing in Sonya’s life was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Sonya touched the lives of everyone she met and her absence will be felt by many.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 44 years, J.R. Stephens of Catlettsburg; children, Nicole Stephens, Jason (Megan) Stephens, Samantha Stephens, Harold (Tonya) Stephens and Elizabeth Ferrel; a brother, Bruce Shope; two sisters, Rhonda Chapman and Cindy (Doc) Thompson; grandchildren, Sasha Whitaker, Ryan Hicks, Cody Hicks, Owen Stephens, Noah Stephens, Sophia Stephens, Emilia Stephens, Brooklyn Baier, Tyler Baier, Laney Baier, Koltin Baier, Aaron O’Bryan, Logan Ferrel, Gauge Stephens and Blake Stephens; great grandchildren, Cole Whitaker, Adalee Whitaker, Carson Whitaker, and Riley Hicks.
A celebration of Sonya’s life will begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, at STEEN FUNERAL HOME 13TH STREET CHAPEL with words of comfort provided by Daniel Collier. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
