Thelma Lorraine Johnson Keeton, 80, of Ashland, went to be with her Lord Sunday morning, February 14, 2021, at her residence.
She was born on March 25, 1940, in Ashland, KY, a daughter of the late Frederick and Drusilla Elizabeth Bailey Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Freda Ann Farrow in 2012.
Thelma was a proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in 1957, and attended Ashland Community College. She was a lifelong member of the Historic St. James A.M.E. Church, where she faithfully served in the following capacities: Secretary, Treasurer; Pro-Tem of the Steward Board; Missionary Society, and Choir. She worked in the catalog department at Penny's, and worked for over 25 years at PNC, serving in numerous capacities at the bank, retiring in 2002 as a Banking Officer.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 61 years, James E. Keeton, Jr., her children, daughter Lori Keeton (James) Johnson, sons James E.(Candy) Keeton III; of Lexington, KY, and Frederick (Charity) Keeton of Nicholasville, KY; grandchildren, Whitney Johnson (Keaton) Young, Austin K. Johnson, both of Lexington, KY, and Trajan K. Keeton of Nicholasville, KY.
Additional survivors include niece Marsha Johnson (Dan) Underwood of Galloway, Ohio, and a host of extended family members and friends.
A private funeral services will be held with the Reverend Leonard Curry officiating.
