Tony Gibbs 69 of Ashland, KY passed away peacefully at Ashland Community Hospice with his family by his side on July 17, 2018. Anthony Ray “Tony” Gibbs was born on November 28, 1948 in Ashland, KY as the youngest son of the late B.E. and Nannie (Cantrell) Gibbs. He was preceded in death by his precious son Brent Edward Gibbs and siblings Elwood Gibbs, Dorla Gambill, Wanda Dickens, Gloria Wenning, Jim Gibbs, Carl Gibbs, and Lou Adkins. He is survived by 3 sons Anthony Ray Gibbs II, Brandon (Nicci) Gibbs, and Jason Gibbs; grandchildren Shelby Gibbs, Kade Gibbs, Austin Gibbs, Jace Gibbs, Hannah Robbins, Molly Robbins, and Ben Robbins; great-granddaughter Milli Pennington; his loving sister Janet Marsh; and will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Tony graduated from Fairview High School in 1967. He was a Vietnam Veteran as part of the United States Navy. Throughout the years he managed or owned several small family businesses in the area including The Rockdale Jamboree, Frisch’s Big Boy, and The Country Squire Motel. He faithfully attended Wildwood First Church of God. He enjoyed cheering on the Reds, the Wildcats, and any sport his grandkids played. He enjoyed listening to bluegrass and gospel music, following national politics, playing cards, watching movies, and mostly spending time with his kids, grandkids, family and friends. He will be greatly missed everyday.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 21, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel with Pastor Mike Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens with military rites by Kenova American Legion Post #93. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM and 1 hour before the funeral service at Noon on Saturday.
