Victor Lee Kersey, 66 years old, died peacefully at home in Ashland KY on Friday April 16, 2021. Victor was born December 14, 1954 to the late Virgil and Jacqueline White Kersey. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jamie McKenzie Kersey, two sons Justin Kersey (Dorinda Drake) and Victor R. Kersey, daughter Christy L. Meade (Matthew Davis) two grandsons, Grant Kersey and Jackson Davis, brother Allen Kersey (Carolyn Kersey) and sister Wanda Kersey.
Vic graduated from Marshall University and retired as Director of Technology at Valvoline Inc. after 41 years of service. Vic loved his job and co-workers and considered many as part of his extended family. Additionally, he was very proud of his thirteen years as firearms instructor and patrolman for both the Boyd County Sheriffs and Police departments. Jamie would ask, what are your weekend plans? He would respond with, “protecting the peace and dignity of the commonwealth.”
Vic had a passion for all things outdoors, that included a variety of competitive shooting sports. His proficiency in these areas brought an assortment of accolades and awards. Mr. Kersey enjoyed his retirement years to the fullest that were occupied with hunting, bass fishing and travel with family. Vic was a friend of many, and frequently made contributions to the community.
Arrangements will be held at STEEN FUNERAL HOME CENTRAL AVENUE CHAPEL (1501 Central Avenue Ashland, KY 41101). Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 PM on Monday April 19, 2021 and the funeral services will be held Tuesday April 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM.
