Tribute

Virginia M. Fouts peacefully answered the call of her Lord and Savior on November 28, 2019 Thanksgiving morning.

Born November 4th, 1920 to James F. and Marian H. McDavid, “Ginny” was a one-time Tomcat cheerleader and Miss Ashland. She owned and operated “Ginny's Dress Shop in South Ashland for 25 years, until she retired in 1983. She loved to travel and has walked along the Great Wall of China, ridden a camel in the shadow of the Great Pyramid, visited Russia, the Holy Land, parts of Europe and South America, as well as over forty U.S. States. Ever the consummate “people person,” Ginny was active in the Volunteer Services Dept. at Kings Daughters Hospital and ultimately became its representative on the KDH Board of Directors. She was a loyal member of the First Baptist Church of Ashland and took great joy in singing in the choir. Throughout a number of serious and debilitating health issues, her warm smile and positive outlook never wavered.

Ginny is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 54 years, Dr. H.A. Fouts, her only brother, Charles F. McDavid, and her step-grandson, Elliot.

She is survived by her loving son, David, daughter-in-law, Lauren, step-grand-daughter, Ashley, a special cousin, Oral O. Miller, and a special niece and namesake, Virginia Sue Viers.

Visitation will be held at the First Baptist Church on Monday evening, from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. A brief service will also be held at the First Baptist Church on Tuesday morning, beginning at 11:00, followed by interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Services will be conducted by Associate Pastor, Mackey Gaskin. Pall bearers will be Jim Viers, Pat Shannon, Mike Shannon, Charlie Johnson, Mathew Jones, and David Fouts.

The family would like to offer special thanks to Cecilia Jones, Jody Miller, Becky Tackett, Talara Tipps, Sandra Woody, Sara Tackett, Cindy Burchett, Nona Musser, Melissa Smith, Carrie Murray, Justin Jones, April McCormick, and a host of others, for their years of exemplary devotion and loving care. Additional thanks go to the KDH ER staff and the Community Hospice staff for their compassion and eagerness to make an untenable situation bearable.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church Music Fund on Winchester Avenue, or the Community Hospice facility, located on Pollard Rd.
