Willa Alberta McKenzie Boyd

Willa Alberta McKenzie Boyd, 93, of Catlettsburg, Kentucky, passed away Monday, June 3, 2019 at the Community Hospice Care Center.
She was born October 29, 1925, in Ashland, KY, a daughter of the late Vincent and Addie Spradlin McKenzie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, James D. Boyd; and two sons, James Rexford Boyd and Samuel Boyd.
Willa was a member of Old Orchard Christian Church. She was a 1943 graduate of Ashland High School and graduated from Christian Normal Institute which is currently Kentucky Christian College. She retired after 45 years of service from C.H. Parson’s Furniture and was a loving and devoted homemaker. Willa was a Kentucky Colonel. She volunteered for Legal Aid, was an avid UK Basketball fan and enjoyed travelling, however her favorite hobby was cross stitching, which she gave as gifts to her family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Bob (Vickie) Boyd of Ashland; daughters, Dorothy (Karl) Hudgens of Lubbock, TX, Alice (Mike) Gregory of Ashland, Nancy White of Catlettsburg, Jeneva Boyd of Catlettsburg and Jamie (Rusty) Eastham of Catlettsburg; 18 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2019, at Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum with words of comfort provided by Scott Holley and Chris Stevens. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery.
