Willis Gene Ross, 87, of Russell, died peacefully on Thursday, September 9, 2021, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.
He was born September 25, 1933, in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of the late Willie and Madge Hay Ross.
Willis retired following a long career with A.K. Steel. He served honorably in the United States Army and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Willis was married to Peggy Ross who passed away in 1984. Together they had three children, Sheri Hall, Lisa Osborne and Scot Ross; grandchildren, Tiffany Osborn, Scotty Ross, Cody Osborn, Taville Osborne and Kristy Hall; and several great grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Helen Jacob Ross of Russell; and children, Donald (Jennifer) Bentley and Cheryl Ann (Don) Madden; grandchildren, Colton Bentley, Savannah Fraley, Holly Madden Evans, Abbigail Ball, Haley Rigsby, Allyson Garnes and Marlee Bentley who was the pride of his life; great grandchildren, Delaney, Emme, Jonah, Wyatt, Astraea, and Sarah.
Funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. Monday, September 13, 2021, at STEEN FUNERAL HOME 13TH STREET CHAPEL with Pastor Ron Riley officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, North East. Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and American Legion Kenova Post 93.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
