Zelma Helen Barker Rice, 84, formerly of Ashland, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018 in Paris, Kentucky. She was born on August 13, 1934 in Elliott County, Ky. She was preceded in death by her Father Harvey Barker and her mother Mary Henson Barker Rice, and a brother Curtis Barker.
She was a benefits coordinator for Armco Steel Corporation and a Homemaker. Zelma loved bowling and was inducted into the Kentucky Bowling Hall of fame after 60 years of League play. She was also an avid golfer at Sandy Creek. Zelma was formerly a member of South Ashland United Methodist Church and was currently a member at Paris First Christian Disciples of Christ. She also enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and was a long term President of Poage PTA.
She is survived by her son Greg Rice (Robb Traylor) of Kansas City, MO; a daughter Jami Rice Dailey (Shane) of Paris, Ky; a sister Velma Gordon of Ohio, a sister-in-law, Ann Barker of Ohio, and Grandchildren Tate Sullivan, Blake Dailey, Alyssa Blankenship and Alexa Dailey.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel at 1:00 PM and will be officiated by Reverend Jeff Bell. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until service time.
