Kay Cassidy 73, born Lillian Kay Dixon, resident of Ashland passed away Sunday evening at SOMC in Portsmouth Ohio. Kay Cassidy was a widow of Sgt. Howard Cassidy and was the daughter of Carl and Lillian Kersey Dixon, previously deceased.
Kay Cassidy was preceded in death by 3 brothers. Carl Dixon of Arcadia Florida, Randall Dixon of Jonesborough Tennessee, and twin brother Vinson Dixon of Ashland Kentucky.
Ms. Cassidy was a graduate of Ashland Senior High School and retired after 25 years of dedicated service from Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center and College of Pharmacy. Additionally, she was a Certified Credentialing Specialist for King Daughters Medical Center for over 12 years after her retirement.
She is survived by a son David May of Ashland, daughter Lisa Westerman of Ashland, 2 grandchildren by choice Jon Young of Rancho Cordova California and Lisa Young of Huntington West Virginia. She is also survived by two sisters Brenda Nolan of Bolivia North Carolina and Donna Hurn of Ocala Florida. Additional family members are 4 great grandchildren by choice, nieces, nephews, and cousins and her beloved pet and friend Sarge.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel with Chaplain Jimm Smedley officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call from Noon until service time Thursday.
